Barbara Breimhurst Jones

The website of an artist needs to ensure that the art displayed shines brighter than anything else on the site-- the content then, isn’t just an afterthought, but instead a complement to all of the beautiful works.

It was timely then that on this project we decided to approach the development of the website with a content-first approach. This meant that we didn’t determine a design or layout of the site until we had all of the content ready. “This type of approach allows for greater creativity as the design takes shape before our eyes with the content.” explains Dana. The added bonus with content first is that no waiting for pieces of content to float in allows for a more productive, and time sensitive development process.

We also took time to see where Barbara displays her art and were able to see her natural surroundings at her home at Jones pond. This also gave us unique perspective to draw from as we determined a style that complimented the very things that inspire her… including the natural plen air approach that she often takes when creating.

In the end, Barbara loved what was produced and remarked, “I truly enjoyed initially engaging in conversation/open dialogue re: design with CBMediaCo. I found the process of assembling the content to be especially gratifying as I began to see the final product emerge both in my vision of what we were working toward and then, as content fell in place, in realizing the value of my artwork.”

We were so blessed to create this website along with Barbara and are excited that she’s able to share her beautiful work online to a broader audience as a result.
